After School Programming
Crestview Elementary currently offers after school sports clinics and craft/hobby workshops throughout the year. Our students and parents become more invested in our school and community by participating. Our goal is to teach students new skills and provide opportunities where previously there have been none.
In the past year, Crestview Elementary along with community partners have conducted Baseball/Softball and Soccer Clinics. Crestview Elementary has also conducted a Knitting Workshop and a Home Depot Workshop with great success.
We are hoping to expand these opportunities in the future by offering a Basketball and Football Clinic. We are also open to any opportunities that you may have to offer.
All of our after school programing is provided to our students free of cost.
Individual Volunteer Opportunities (MVP)
In as little as thirty minutes per week, you can make a difference in the life of a student. The Shawnee Mission School District MVP Program connects adult volunteers with students in our school. Volunteer pals choose from a range of in-school activities, including mentoring, serving as a lunch buddy, classroom volunteer, sharing special talents or career interests, tutoring in math or reading, or simply being a friend who listens. No special skills are required, only the ability to be a good listener. Volunteers enjoy flexible schedules, and all activities take place on school grounds during school hours.
MVP volunteers complete an application (available online), attend a short training that touches on important areas including standards of conduct, importance of maintaining confidentiality, etc., acknowledge they have received the training by signing the standards of conduct, and complete a fingerprint background screen. Volunteers are screened and trained free of charge.
